The Monitoring Soil Science project aims to train Western Australian students in scientific methodologies, including sampling strategies, which they will use to collect a series of biological, chemical and physical soil science data. They will then upload their results onto a shared online database.

In 2010 the project was trialled with six schools:

• Duncraig SHS
• Newman SHS
• Newton Moore SHS
• Perth Modern School
• Rossmoyne SHS
• Shenton College
